When officials arrived, they noticed heavy black smoke coming from a vent stack on the roof. The building was evacuated when the fire department arrived, and no injuries were reported.

The fire department says there was a fire in a large dust collector and its hopper. The fire was contained to the dust collector and hopper, however, due to the size of the hopper and the amount of material involved, a second alarm was dispatched.

The fire was brought under control in about thirty minutes with the help of Kernersville, Winston Salem, Walkertown, Forsyth County and Mineral Springs Fire Departments.

There were no injuries to fire personnel.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Kernersville Fire Rescue Department’s Fire Marshal’s office.
